L E E K Y N E S has dedicated his career to Appellate Practice. Lee started his career as a law clerk for a Federal Appellate Judge on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He worked at an international law firm on some of the highest profile appeals in Georgia. And then he founded his own law firm focused on appellate litigation for individuals and small businesses in Georgia. He’s handled appeals in many types of cases—business disputes, personal injury, criminal, and probate, to name a few.

L E E K Y N E S has served as chair of the Appellate Practice Section of the State Bar of Georgia.  He’s been a frequent speaker on appellate litigation over the years, most recently speaking on Georgia Appellate Jurisdiction and Procedure at the Georgia Appellate Practice CLE. He co-wrote the Georgia chapter in the ABA Appellate Practice Compendium. He has also served on the Georgia Court of Appeals Rules Committee. And he co-chaired the Eleventh Circuit Appellate Practice Institute.

L E E K Y N E S has deep roots in Georgia. His grandparents were born and raised in the Southwest Georgia communities of Coolidge and Colquitt.  Lee grew up in Florida, but after attending Davidson College, he settled in Atlanta. He met his wife, Helen, at church, and then went on to attend the University of Georgia School of Law. Lee and Helen now live in the Ormewood Park neighborhood in Atlanta with their three daughters, Grace, Annie, and Libby. 

L E E K Y N E S is deeply committed to his faith and serving the community. Lee serves as an elder in his church, Village Church of East Atlanta. Prior to law school, he worked for two non-profit legal services agencies in Atlanta. And he has served on a number of non-profit boards. He currently serves on the governing board for his children’s charter school.
